Knowing some basic first aid tips can make a big difference in keeping everyone safe and healthy at work. • Rest: Avoid using the injured part of the body.
  • Ice: Use an ice pack (wrapped in a cloth) on the area for 15-20 minutes every 2-3 hours to reduce swelling.
  • Compression: Wrap the area with an elastic bandage for support, but not too tightly.
  • Elevation: Keep the injured part raised above heart level to reduce swelling.

  • Call for Help: Immediately call emergency services (000 in Australia).
  • CPR: If you’re trained, start CPR. Push hard and fast in the centre of the chest at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute.
  • Use an AED: If there’s an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) available, use it as soon as possible by following the device’s instructions.

Keeping the Office Safe

Keeping the Office Safe

  • Regular Training: Hold regular first aid training sessions so everyone knows what to do in an emergency.
  • Ergonomics: Make sure workstations are set up to prevent injuries. Provide adjustable chairs and monitor stands, and encourage regular breaks.
  • Tidy Workspace: Keep the office clean and free from hazards. Make sure walkways are clear and spills are cleaned up quickly.

Basic first aid knowledge is essential in any office. By knowing these simple tips, you can help make your workplace safer and be ready to handle minor injuries and emergencies.
