Covid indeed forced us to do things differently. This is when our baby first aid online course was truly born.
It had been in my head for quite a while, and I had toyed with the idea of putting an online course out there…
Then the wrecking ball of COVID arrived in the 3rd week of March 2020.
So we set to work recording videos and creating downloadable PDFs for our audience so that they didn’t have to miss out on this most important of subjects and created the best online baby first aid course in Australia.
We had to assume that most people won’t have a baby CPR manikin at home, but actually, we figured this is only an obstacle if we make it one! Delivering this information is way more important that not delivering it because we don’t have the right doll.
We encourage our parents and caregivers to practice the positions for Choking and infant CPR, and head positions on their own baby, but NOT the actual first aid of back slaps and chest thrusts – that would not be a good idea and bub would not thank you for it.
Instead, we ask parents to use a doll or a teddy bear to practice the essential first aid techniques like:
- Chest thrusts
- Back slaps
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
We have videos that show you the exact techniques so parents and caregivers can follow along and rewind as many times as you wish.
